Jennifer Lacy – American professional basketball player

A WNBA player Jennifer Lacy lives in Queens, New York. Starting her professional career in 2006, she has been still pursuing her career. She is a Free Agent and plays in the forward position of the team. Her father Lee Lacy is an ex-baseball player who played MLB in the defensive position for 16 seasons with teams like Atlanta Braves, Baltimore Orioles, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Pittsburg Pirates from 1972 to 1987. 

After a strong presence in the basketball arena at both school and college level, she started her WNBA career with Phoenix Mercury. This 2007 WNBA Champion awardee played in China for Beijing Shougang in 2008-2009 when there was off-season in WNBA.

At the time of being born in March 21, 1983, she was named as Jennifer by her parents and got the surname from her father. Jennifer Lee Lacy was born in Agoura, California. She has got two brothers. After graduation from Agoura Hills High School in 2002, she got herself admitted in Pepperdine University in California. 

Although she has been playing basketball skillfully from her high school level, she started playing the game professionally at the Women’s Basketball Team of Pepperdine. At the same time she was selected by the universities of Washington, California, UC Santa Barbara, and Arizona for playing in their women’s basketball team. In 2006, she joined WNBA after completion of college education as an undrafted free agent.

Achievements during College Time:

  • From the WCC (West Coast Conference), she was the first player to mark the WNBA schedule.

  • As a senior, she led WCC in scoring.

  • As a senior, she was selected All-WCC First Team.

  • She as a senior led the team in WCC for scoring and rebounding.

  • In the field goal percentage, she led the team as a senior.

  • As a junior she got the All-WCC Honorable Mention.

  • For leading the team as a junior in the field goal percentage, she got ranked as second in the West Coast Conference.

  • She as a junior was ranked sixth for blocked shots in WCC. 

  • As a junior, she led her team for making double-doubles.

Career Chronology in WNBA: 

2006:

Lacy participated in 33 games including 3 starts for Mercury. At her beginning year, she scored 4.9 points and 3.1 rebounds on an average game. She was the first player in WCC to get selected for a WNBA squad. In the area of field goal percentage, she was a leading figure as a rookie. She set a record for Mercury by scoring 7 field-goals without any miss. She made 16 points (highest in the season) against Charlote on the August 03 match.

2007:

In this season also, she participated for the Phoenix Mercury in 20 games. On an average in each 4.7 minutes, she scored 1.8 points and 1.0 rebounds in each game. From the field, she made 41.4 shots. Jennifer won the WNBA Championship Award.  

2008:

Lacy signed agreement with Atlanta Dream where she was named as Captain of the team and she was one of only four players in the team’s history who could start more than 20 games. Including 22 starts, she played 33 games in this season. Her score was mind-blowing. On an average she made 5.7 points, 0.8 assists, and 2.7 rebounds in each game. In this season, she made her career-high 18 points twice, steals, and assists. Against the match with Chicago on June 07, she made a record 10 rebounds and first double-double (18 points+10 rebounds) in her career.  

2009:

With the Atlanta Dream, she participated in 32 games and scored 3 points, 0.3 assists, and 2.2 rebounds on an average.

2010:

She started her career with Tulsa Shock where she started 3 games and played 24 with an average score 7 points at each game. Her position was sixth in the team this year. In the June 25 game against New York she scored 16 points which was her season-high. Before falling into wrist injury that led her to miss 4 final matches, Lacy had an average 0.8 assists, 3 rebounds, and 7 points at each game.

2011:

In 2011, Lacy started 18 games while playing 34 with a score of 6.3points and 2.6 rebounds on an average game of 19.2 minutes. In the match with Washington on June 18, she made 3 blocks that were the highest in her career. On July 30, against the match with Seattle, she touched her career-high 5 assists. She made her career-high 4 three-point field goals and 18 points On September 02 against the match with Seattle.

2012:

With the same Tulsa Shock team, she participated in 26 games while started for 6. Making 8.5 points, 0.8 assists, and 2.6 rebounds on an average of 22 minutes game in this season was one her career-highs. Some of her achievements in this year were leading the team to score 19 points against Phoenix Mercury on 03 June; and stealing with 4 players (her career-high) of the opponent New York team. For a knee injury, she missed 8 games of the season.

2013:

While starting for 7 games, she participated in 32 games and made 3.9 points & 1.3 rebounds on an average game longing 14.1 minutes. From the field, she made 32.4% shots.
