1. Don't wear the personalized jersey
OK! I understand you have always wanted to play for your desired team since your childhood. Since when you were 7 or 8 years of old, you intended Houston Rockets were going to start you at first base. Well, this team has a player like Russell Westbrook, and his last name isn't Smith, Simmons, or whatever your last name is.
If you see a person wearing a personalized jersey and s/he looks beautiful and for that s/he can get a free pass for that. NEVER! I can guarantee you. Many people want something with staying power. Of course, you can wear a personalized jersey when nobody is around. But you don't want yourself to feel bored while watching the basketball game just because you have a personalized jersey. So I can suggest you pick iconic players jersey and you won't regret that.
2. Wear a T-shirt under your jersey
You probably had seen this before those people who didn't wear anything under their jersey, and people looked at them with strange eyes. Do you know why? Because it seems weird at times not to wear anything under the jersey. Considering the style and fashion jerseys with T-shirts do make sense no matter what games you play. You might find a few things –
- During warm weather, you can wear jerseys as tank tops. In that situation, if you wear a simple cotton T-shirt, that would be just fine. Make sure that you will wear your undergarments too.
- You can even have a formal look by wearing an undershirt along with your jersey.
- Try to get the right color combination of both your T-shirt and jersey.
3. Don't tuck the jersey
To me, it doesn't look decent when I see someone tucking their jerseys. You know jerseys are casual dress. Players on the court tuck their jerseys as per the rules of the games. And there is a valid reason for this. In real games, the players do it to prevent injuries, and there is a correlation to performance. Are you a professional player just like them? If not, I suggest you not to tuck your jersey in. I am sure you are not going to get hurt, and you don't need to perform like the professional basketball players, except showing off your chugging prowess.
4. Find a jersey that will fit you well
Since medium size jerseys are available, why do people look for or wear XXL jerseys? I don't get it. It usually doesn't match with football jerseys, because real NFL jerseys start from size 48. And that still a bigger size to me. Jerseys don't adulate on most of the body types, and you make it even worse when you go for too small or too big. If you don't have any choice, you can go for one size above, but make sure the jersey you choose will typically involve shoulder pads.
5. Know the environment
There are suitable times and locations to wear jerseys. Earlier when you were a kid, that time, you could wear whatever you want even you could go to school wearing a team jersey. Now you are an adult person, and you probably know the art of timing. After work, do you go to any sports bar? Of course not. Do you like to go to the gym wearing a team jersey? I think no. Nobody would like to see you doing work out wearing a jersey. Here is a list of some suitable places and situations where you can wear jersey –
- During any game
- At the sports bar
- Any kind of sporting events or party for sport
- Any outdoor festival or event
- In your home
- You can wear a jersey on Sunday if your team competing on Sunday night
- Themed day – when your work decides to wear a jersey
- Shoe does matter
For many people, this may sound a bit unfamiliar, but women have a good sense of style and do care about shoes. By the way, if the weather is warm, then you can wear flip flops and boat shoes, and these types of shoes are pretty much acceptable to wear with your jersey. Besides that, you can also put sneakers if they are fresh. It will be looking odd if you wear an old sneaker with your jersey.
7. What to wear when your favorite teams are not playing in the court
If you ask me if I watch any games where my favorite teams are not competing, then I would say "YES," because I love watching sports. And in that case, I would choose a neutral color for my jersey.
Anyway, if you have such a situation that your favorite team is not competing, and then the best option is to wear an all-star game jersey. You can wear these types of jersey to any kind of basketball game, and nobody would give you a shit.
8. Remember that age matters
I find it weird to see someone who is 60 years old wears a jersey of Robert Griffin III. That doesn't seem normal to me. As you are getting older, you must find those jerseys that have a connection with the time when you fell in love with a basketball game for the first time. It would be very satisfying to let the people know you have been in love with your team for a long time. And nobody will claim that you have just come across the team who has just entered the NBA.
9. Blank jerseys are just fine
Jerseys always look good when there is numbers and players name over there. Usually, for basketball or football, you can't wear a blank jersey, but in the case of baseball and hockey, you can wear blank. But nobody won't mind if you enjoy watching your favorite team's game by wearing a blank jersey.
10. Wear team colors
This is for the girls. Say if you are a fan of Boston Celtics, and you wear a red jersey, then you must be looking odd, I would say. You should be proud of the colors of your team if you are proud of them. So get yourself a real jersey of your favorite team and wear them. It also happens in the case of men too.
11. Put sunglass and chain
If the weather is sunny and you are roaming around the sea beach, then you can put sunglasses along with your favorite team's jersey, and that goes well with such kind of weather. And many basketball fans prefer to wear a gold chain that many basketball players wear too. Basketball jersey, along with sunglass and chain, will be appealing to everyone. Keep in mind that if you intend to wear a casual dress, then you should wear everything casual. For instance, sneakers would be preferable than formal shoes with such types of attire.
12. Jersey and hat
There is no such rule that you can't wear a jersey and hat at the same time. But I recommend you not to wear these at the same time as this combination doesn't seem perfect to me.
13. What should you wear if you don't have any favorite team or player?
Do you enjoy watching a basketball game, and you don't have any particular favorite team or players? Don't worry about that. In such a case, you choose any jersey from any famous player like – Michael Jordan or LeBron James. Or you can wear an all-star game jersey. This is always an exciting thing to wear a basketball jersey, even if you support any team. You can select a jersey according to your color preference.
14. Select bigger size
One of the things to remember when you buy a jersey is that you should buy the jersey that is one size bigger than your standard size. You should not choose the tight fit jersey. You should choose the one that makes you feel relaxed after wearing it. And if you buy a bit long jersey than your standard size, you can wear other clothes beneath your jersey during the winter season. But don't go for the oversized jersey that I mentioned earlier.
