Full Biography of Jim Carter

Jim Carter is an American professional golfer. He was born on 24th June 1961 in Spring Lake, North Carolina, United States. According to his birth year, he is now 58 years old. His full name is Jim Laver Carter, and his nickname is Prez. Jim Carter graduated in business from Arizona State University in 1984. He became a professional golf player in 1985. He also worked at Merrill Lynch from 2006 to 2009 as a financial advisor. Jim Carter lives in Scottsdale, Arizona, with his spouse Cyndi. And they have three children. Jim Carter’s height is 6’1″ (1.85 m), and weight is 185 pounds (84 kg). Jim Carter has an interest in outdoor games, hiking, exercise, and mountain biking. He also likes to spend time with his family. At an early age, he was very fond of playing basketball and wrestling, and he also earned the honour in these games.

Career: In his early life (before turned into professional), he won 7 awards.  In 1979 he won two events. These are Arizona State High School and Mesa City Amateur. In 1981 he won Arizona State Amateur. In 1983 he won two events. These are Southwestern Amateur and NCAA Championship. In 1984 he won two events. These events are Arizona State Amateur and Southwestern Amateur.

After becoming a professional, Jim Carter played many events. In his whole career, he won 10 games- one in PGA Tour, one in Korn Ferry Tour (KFT), and eight in other events. Qualifying for the PGA Tour was a big struggle for him, but somehow he passed it and won 1 PGA Tour events in 2000.

Season 1986: Jim Carter won at Kingman Open in 1986.

Season1987: In 1987 he also won at Scottsdale Healthcare Classic. It was his other victory event after he started playing golf like a professional player.

Season 1989: Jim Carter finished this season at the 33rd position in the final money list.

  • Arizona Open Championship: Jim Carter Won at Arizona Open, organized annually and played into three rounds. 

Season 1990: In 1990, Jim lost in the PGA Tour qualifying tournament and finished the season at 172nd in the final money list.

Season 1992: Wigwam Classic: Won at Wigwam Classic.

Season 1993: In 1993, Jim Carter played at Nationwide Tour and finished this season at six top-ten positions.

  • Arizona Open: Again, he won the Arizona Open.

Season 1997: Buick Challenge: Jim finished the Buick Challenge at the ninth position. It was one of the best tournaments over this season.

  • Buick Classic: Another best tournament over this season was Buick Classic. He finished it in the fifth position. 

Season 1998: Jim Carter finished this season at the top 25 in eight tournaments, and three of them were in the top 10.

  • Freeport-McDermott Classic: Freeport-McDermott Classic was the best tournament this year. He finished this tournament at T3.

Season 1999: Buick Classic: In 1999, the Buick Classic was a successful event for Jim. He finished this event at T5 and in the top-10 position.

Season 2000: This year, he positioned the top 50 in the money list at the PGA Tour 2000. He has also withdrawn the PGA Championship this year.

Season 2002: In 2002, Carter played the three major championships. In U.S. Open, he finished at T24 (it was the best performance in this championship). In the PGA Championship, he missed the halfway cut, and in the Open Championship, he finished at T69. Jim Carter finished this season in the top 100 positions in the final money list. Season 2016: 2016 was the best season for Jim Carter because he played 17 best events in his whole career. This season he didn’t miss any cut. Finished one event at second, one in top 10, and 5 in top 25.

  • Shaw Charity Classic: Finished at T12.
  • Tucson Conquistadores Classic: Jim Carter Finished in the second position.

Season 2017: This year he played 21 events. In this season, the two best tournaments were Pacific Links Bear Mountain Championship (finished at T17) and 3M Championship (spent at T23).

Season 2018: This year he played only two official events and earned a total of $5206.

Among four major championships, Jim Carter played three titles. The U.S. Open (best performance T24 in 2002), PGA Championship (best performance T56 in 1989), and the Open Championship (best performance T69 in 2002). Jim didn’t play the Masters Tournament.
