Full Biography of Tommy Gainey

Tommy Dale Gainey is an American professional golfer born on 13th August 1975 in Darlington, South Carolina, United States. So, he is now 44 years old. He is also known as 'Two Gloves' because Gainey always wears two golf gloves while playing. This habit was developed in his childhood when he played baseball. Tommy Gainey became a professional golf player in 1997 and played golf on small tours in the United States' southern part for a few years. Gainey graduated in 1999 in industrial maintenance from Central Carolina Technical College. Before playing golf like a professional player, he worked in A.O. corporation on an assembly line to wrap insulation.

Tommy Gainey's favorite college and professional teams are the South Carolina Gamecocks and the Dallas Cowboys.

Height and weight: Tommy Gainey's size is 6'0" (1.83m), and his weight is 190 pounds (86 kg).

Family: Erin Joiner is Tommy Gainey's wife, whom he married in 2010. He doesn't mention any other information about his family publically. So, if we get any information about his family, we'll update you as soon as possible.

Playing Style: Tommy Gainey always uses black golf gloves on each hand. On full shots, he uses a baseball grip.

Others: Tommy Gainey helps the Hootie & the Blowfish Foundation (an American rock band formed in 1986). Tommy has a slight interest in a pool game. He also likes to spend time with family and friends.

Career

After becoming a professional golf player, Tommy Gainey played many small tours for a few years. In 2005 Gainey attended the golf channel's show 'Big Break V,' and in the 6th episode, he was eliminated. But in 2007, Gainey returned to the front and won that show for 'Big Break VII.' He won two events in 2006 and one in 2007 on the 'Egolf Tarheel Tour.' He also won NGA Hooters Tour. At the end of 2007, Tommy Gainey won the PGA tour card by graduating from the Q-School and completing the tour at T19. He officially joined the PGA Tour and KFT (Korn Ferry Tour) tour in 2008. After getting the PGA tour card, Gainey started playing large and famous events. He won one event on the PGA tour in 2012 and two events on the KFT tour in 2010. In his career, he played a total of 308 events.

In 2007 season 2007, Tommy Gainey played four events on the KFT tour. and his best performance was in-

Cox Classic: He finished the Cox Classic events at T8.

BMW Charity Pro-Am: He spent the BMW Charity Pro-Am at T30.

Wachovia Championship: In the Wachovia Championship, he missed the cut. So, he finished it at MC.

Season 2008: In 2007, Tommy Gainey finished the PGA Tour qualifying tournament at T19 and was selected for the final PGA Tour of 2008. And he made only six cuts out of 24 cuts in his first PGA Tour. Gainey gave his best performance in the Children's Miracle Network Classic held on 9th November 2008. He finished that tournament second and gained 19.20 points.

Season 2009: In 2009, Tommy Gainey played 28 events. He made eight cuts out of 15 on the PGA Tour and 11 cuts out of 13 on the KFT Tour. Other best events in 2009 are-

Miccosukee Championship: Finished Miccosukee Championship at T12.

Chattanooga Classic: Finished Chattanooga Classic at T11.

Puerto Rico Open: Finished Puerto Rico Open at T21 (season-best).

In the 2010 season 2010, he won two KFT tours (Chiquita Classic and Melwood Prince George's County Open) and gained 14.00 points in both events. Other events in which he gave his best performance are-

WNB Golf Classic: Finished at T5 at the WNB Golf Classic.

Mylan Classic: Tommy Gainey Finished fifth at Mylan Classic (presented by CONSOL Energy).

BMW Charity Pro-Am: Finished at T2 at the BMW Charity Pro-Am, which SYNNEX Corporation presented. In this event, he gains 5.39 points.

Panama CLARO Championship: He finished the Panama CLARO Championship third and gained 5.60 points.

Season 2011: In 2011, Tommy Gainey played 35 events and finished third at four events. It was one of the most successful seasons of his career.

CIMB Asia Pacific Classic Malaysia: Finished at T23 in the CIMB Asia Pacific Classic Malaysia.

Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open: Finished at T3. And also finished Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in the top 10.

Wyndham Championship: Tommy Gainey Finished third at Wyndham Championship and moved to position 30 in the FedExCup standings.

Viking Classic: Gainey Finished at T7 and was also in the top 10.

Zurich Classic of New Orleans: Tommy Gainey Finished at T3 and was also in the top 10. It was his fourth top 10 in this season.

The Heritage: Finished at a solo third at the Heritage events and gained 20.00 points. Third top ten

The Honda Classic: Finished the Honda Classic in the second top 10 of the year.

Waste Management Phoenix Open: Finished at T8.

Season 2012: In 2012, Tommy Gainey played 32 events. Among all events, some of the best events are-

The McGladrey Classic: It was his career's best event. He gained his career's highest point (26.00). He won this PGA Tour. In his whole golf career, he won only this PGA Tour.

Deutsche Bank Championship: Finished at T66.

The Barclays: Finished at T38.

Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial: Tommy Gainey Finished at solo third.

Season 2013: In 2013, Tommy Gainey played 32 events and made 14 cuts out of 28.

Hyundai Tournament of Champions: Finished at T6 in the Hyundai Tournament of Champions.

Season 2014: Tommy Gainey finished at No. 156 in the FedExCup standings. And in the PGA Tour, he made 11 cuts out of 26. In this early season, Gainey missed his nine cuts among the first 11 cuts, succeeded at T8, made five cuts among the last seven starts, and finished at top-20 in the KFT final to regain the PGA Tour status. But he had withdrawn from the first event and missed the next two events cuts.

Barracuda Championship: Finished at T17.

Travelers Championship: Finished at 18.

Zurich Classic of New Orleans: In the second and third rounds of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, Gainey's score was 66-67.

Season 2015: In 2015, Tommy Gainey finished the Korn Ferry Tour very successfully. He spent one KFT event at third and four events in the top 10 and made 12 cuts. Gainey finished at no. One hundred two in the KFT final money list and no. 46 in the combined money list. Other important events were-

Hotel Fitness Championship: Finished at T52.

WinCo Foods Portland Open presented by Kraft Heinz: Finished at T7.

Greater Dallas Open: Finished at T8.

Brasil Champions presented by HSBC: Finished at T9.

The McGladrey Classic: Finished at T32.

Season 2016: Because of his injury, he didn't play many events in 2016. Gainey made only one cut in the PGA Tour in season 2016. And a total of 6 amounts in the whole season.

RBC Heritage: In RBC Heritage, he made no. 10 in the second round and had to withdraw because of his health condition.

Season 2017: In this season, Tommy played both the PGA Tour and Korn Ferry Tour (KFT). He made two cuts in the PGA Tour in eight starts and four cuts in the KFT in 17 starts.

Season 2018: In 2018, Gainey played a total of 11 events. Among all events, his best result was in the Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship, and he finished it at T22. Tommy Gainey made a total of 9 cuts in the whole season. But he failed to keep his position in the top 125 in the FedExCup standings.

Season 2019: In 2019, Tommy Gainey played still 16 events and made nine cuts. He gave his best performance in Wichita Open Supporting Wichita's Youth this whole season. He finished it at T14 and gained 1.25 points.

Now the current OWGR (Official World Golf Ranking) position of Tommy Gainey is 1607. Among four major championships, Tommy Gainey played only one championship (PGA Championship). Gainey didn’t play Masters Tournament, U.S. Open, and The Open Championship. In his whole career, Gainey won a total of 9 tours. One PGA Tour, two Korn Ferry Tour, and six other tours.
